The Piaget Society Rendez-Vous: The Experience Of Movement

Running now until November 20th, Piaget’s boutiques in Geneva and Zurich are providing clients and visitors an innovative experience based around a common theme, “The Art of Movement.”

When we here at Watchonista use a word like “movement” in an article, 99.9% of the time we are talking about the mechanical heart of watches, but as you will discover, Piaget is extending its definition of the word “movement” to encompass parallel disciplines and creators outside of watchmaking.
 

By imbuing the Piaget Society with the spirit of the 1960s and drawing on the close relationship it has developed with its members since then, the brand has launched an inclusive approach for discovering the inner workings of a mechanical movement that is in line with its clienteles’ wishes and needs.
 

In holding with the theme of “The Art of Movement,” Piaget opened the day with a discussion panel between the brand’s Head of Patrimony Jean-Bernard Forot, Piaget Watch Expert Balthasar de Pury, and two innovators from outside of the watch world. Specifically, wellness designer and recently proclaimed “best masseur in France” Jimmy Jarnet and Benedikt Germanier, CEO of zai AG, were there to share what “The Art of Movement” means to them.
 

Once you cross the threshold of the boutique, you will be transported into the world of movement. From the historically significant, extra thin 9P and 12P calibres that formed the bedrock of Piaget’s reputation since the 1950s.
 

There is also an oversized and interactive model of a Piaget automatic calibre on which visitors can discover part-by-part the architecture and functionality of a mechanical movement in a surprisingly intuitive and informative way. Plus, with a large range of the brand’s calibres on display, the diversity and complexity of each subsequent movement are elegantly illustrated to the visitor.
