The Piaget Society Rendez-Vous: The Experience Of Movement
Since October 20th, Piaget boutiques in Geneva and Zurich have been playing host to the brand’s Piaget Society Rendez-Vous, which, this year, focuses on the understanding and experience of movement by offering lovers of fine watchmaking a unique look inside a fine Piaget calibre. Let’s take a walk inside and discover the novel approach behind this month-long Piaget Society event.
Running now until November 20th, Piaget’s boutiques in Geneva and Zurich are providing clients and visitors an innovative experience based around a common theme, “The Art of Movement.”
When we here at Watchonista use a word like “movement” in an article, 99.9% of the time we are talking about the mechanical heart of watches, but as you will discover, Piaget is extending its definition of the word “movement” to encompass parallel disciplines and creators outside of watchmaking.
By imbuing the Piaget Society with the spirit of the 1960s and drawing on the close relationship it has developed with its members since then, the brand has launched an inclusive approach for discovering the inner workings of a mechanical movement that is in line with its clienteles’ wishes and needs.
The Piaget Society Experiences
That is how I found myself on a recent sunny autumnal afternoon being hosted at the Piaget Boutique in Geneva and participating in an invitation-only event that allowed us to view the brand in a new light. Indeed, we weren’t there to discover a fresh novelty nor a newly released collection but to be a part of an experience.
In holding with the theme of “The Art of Movement,” Piaget opened the day with a discussion panel between the brand’s Head of Patrimony Jean-Bernard Forot, Piaget Watch Expert Balthasar de Pury, and two innovators from outside of the watch world. Specifically, wellness designer and recently proclaimed “best masseur in France” Jimmy Jarnet and Benedikt Germanier, CEO of zai AG, were there to share what “The Art of Movement” means to them.
By uniting different disciplines via this common theme, the audience was immersed in an unusual yet relevant exchange that took us behind the scenes of the only aspect of watchmaking that can be equally compared to wellness design and ski design: movement design. Luckily, while there, Watchonista had the opportunity to capture the event’s ambiance and record what "movement” means for each speaker. Check out our exclusive video below to hear their answers.

The Experience of Movement at Geneva and Zurich Piaget Boutique
It’s only natural that event attendees and non-attendees alike will want to continue this conversation with each other. That is why, until November 20th, Piaget is making part of the movement experiences available to anyone who is interested at its boutiques in Geneva and Zurich.
Once you cross the threshold of the boutique, you will be transported into the world of movement. From the historically significant, extra thin 9P and 12P calibres that formed the bedrock of Piaget’s reputation since the 1950s.
There is also an oversized and interactive model of a Piaget automatic calibre on which visitors can discover part-by-part the architecture and functionality of a mechanical movement in a surprisingly intuitive and informative way. Plus, with a large range of the brand’s calibres on display, the diversity and complexity of each subsequent movement are elegantly illustrated to the visitor.
With such an experiential platform to the brand, entering a Piaget Boutique will definitely become another kind of journey for the watch enthusiast, especially considering that the brand plans to expand its Piaget Society Rendez-Vous globally.
