PIAGET crowned master of the ultra-thin
The jury awarded its First Prize to Piaget for the PIAGET Altiplano Date, voted “Watch of the Year 2013” by the magazine Montres Passion. The ultimate accolade for PIAGET, whose ultra-thin watches have symbolised the brand since its earliest days.
For over 50 years, PIAGET has been on an unending quest for the infinitesimal, upholding its heritage as master of the ultra-thin and perpetuating the motto of its founder “Always do better than necessary”. To date 23 of the 35 movements designed and developed by the PIAGET Manufactures have been ultra-thin, and most of them have set records for thinness in the world of watchmaking.
Timeless and classic, the PIAGET Altiplano Date is equipped with the 1205P, the world’s thinnest automatic date movement at 3 mm, housed in a 6.36 mm case – a new double record.
Sleek and elegant were the watchwords when designing the look of the Altiplano Date, a model of timeless purity and a true classic that is sure to stand the test of time. Crafted in white gold, pink gold or gem-set pink gold, the 40 mm case was specially designed to house the 1205P calibre. A movement adorned with traditional finishing, circular Côtes de Genève, circular-grained mainplate, bevelled bridges, sunburst wheels, blued screws, dedicated index assembly and a pink gold micro-rotor engraved with the Piaget coat-of-arms.
It was with great emotion that Franck Touzeau, PIAGET Watch Marketing Director, received the Jury’s First Prize this evening, on Friday 25th October, for the PIAGET Altiplano Date, voted “Watch of the Year 2013” on the occasion of the Montres Passion magazine gala evening. His pride was all the greater for having won the same prize in 2008 for the emblematic Altiplano small seconds.
