Piaget Limelight Gala Automatic
Piaget Limelight Gala Automatic
Piaget introduces an automatic movement into its Limelight Gala, a first for the collection, and the start of a brand-new chapter in the Limelight Gala story.
Extraordinary Women
Piaget’s Limelight Gala Collection is a celebration of extraordinary women the world over – women who are creative, inspiring, empowering, and independant. Since the 1970s, Piaget’s master artisans have been paying tribute to these audacious and passionate women through the art of watchmaking, goldsmithing, and gemsetting, creating extraordinary timepieces.
Limelight Gala: The icon of precious watches
The name of the Limelight Gala collection was inspired by the famous Piaget Society with its fabulous parties where celebrities, artists, friends, and clients would gather. These enchanting evenings were an invitation to celebrate friendships, beauty, memorable moments, and the finer things in life.
Piaget captured the fanciful spirit of these magical times with dazzling jewellery watches that were characterised by their round cases, two asymmetrical extended lugs, and an array of sparkling gemstones. Over the years, the Limelight Gala timepieces have evolved with the addition of rich Malachite dials and glorious gold Milanese mesh bracelets, but it has always stayed true to its origins of blending watchmaking and jewellery in glamorous and vibrant collections.
Piaget’s four pillars
Piaget’s Limelight Gala creations are inspired by the four pillars of the Maison: The Arts of Movement, Gold, Colour, and Light. The Art of Movement takes on a new significance this year as Piaget debuts a new automatic movement inside the Limelight Gala – the manufacture calibre 501P – combining Piaget’s watchmaking savoir-faire and heritage with its jewellery craftsmanship. Thanks to its two fully-integrated manufactures in Switzerland’s Plan-les-Ouates and La Côte-aux-Fées, Piaget counts over 40 specialised professions that work side by side on the creation of these timepieces. This ingenious fusion of crafts has enabled the brand to constantly innovate and push the limits of what is possible.
New Piaget Limelight Gala 32mm Automatic Models
Piaget is launching the new Limelight Gala 32mm Automatic with five stunning models, all of which feature the Maison’s manufacture self-winding 501P movement and an exhibition sapphire crystal caseback, attesting to Piaget’s incredible watchmaking knowhow.
Gold Milanese mesh bracelet versions
The first two models are adorned with gold Milanese mesh bracelets that are reminiscent of historic bracelets crafted in the 1950s. Piaget never lost this unique know-how and each bracelet is crafted just as it was seventy years ago. Each bracelet starts life as a gold bar, which the artisan then works into tiny gold threads that are twisted, weaved, and squeezed by hand, one by one, taking over 35 hours to complete. The bracelet is perfectly integrated into the case, giving the impression that it is a natural extension of the asymmetrical lugs and the case of the watch. In addition to the stunning aesthetic, Piaget’s Milanese mesh bracelets are also extremely supple and comfortable on the wrist, feeling almost like a second skin.
White gold and rose gold versions on alligator straps
There are two versions – one in white gold and the other in rose gold – that come on an elegant black alligator strap. These models are also adorned with an array of brilliant-cut diamonds that accentuate the two asymmetrical lugs and make this collection and its owner truly stand out from the crowd.
A Precious snow setting
Last, but not least, the Piaget Limelight Gala 32mm Automatic is also available with a snow-set dial. The snow setting technique is particularly complex as the gem setter has to calculate the position of every single diamond, all of which differ in size. The snow-paved dial captures and reflects the light in an extraordinary way that will make the owner of this timepiece truly shine.
